A comparative analysis of decision-making methods on site suitability for on- and offshore wind farms: the case of regional unit of Euboea, Greece

Wind energy has a key role to the fulfillment of and Greece’s low-carbon policy targets due multiple benefits that it provides in terms cost-effectiveness. However, inappropriate siting may lead uneconomic viable projects. In this work, site selection methodological framework is developed determine wind farm (WF) potential (onshore offshore) study area, as well most suitable solutions. It consists two successive phases: (1) identification areas for onshore offshore WF using geographic information systems by producing linear geoprocessing models numerous exclusion criteria (e.g., power density) (2) prioritization land marine on basis specific assessment distance from protected areas) deploying three different multi-criteria schemes (analytic hierarchy process (AHP) VIekriterijumsko KOmpromisno Rangiranje (VIKOR); entropy VIKOR; direct weights VIKOR).
